Forever Green Initiative has been funded through local, state and federal channels since its inception. Recent awards include a $10M USDA SAS-CAP grant to fund the advancement of Kernza Intermediate wheatgrass, $5M USDA Specialty Crop Research Initiative to advance hybrid hazelnuts and awards from the MN Clean Water Legacy Amendment to fund implementation of Forever Green crops in Minnesota to protect water quality. The 2022 MN legislative session included Forever Green research in the base budget going forward.
