Second round of CLC market development grants available

September 26, 2023

A second round of grant money to support the continued market development of continuous living cover crops is now available.

The grants are available to organizations in Minnesota who are working to develop enterprises, supply chains and markets for continuous living cover crops and cropping systems that are in the early stages of commercial development. As the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) explains, this can mean agroforestry, perennial biomass, perennial forarge, perennial grains and winter annual cereal grains and oilseeds "that have market value as harvested or grazed commodities."

This grant money is available as a result of legislation passed during the 2023 Minnesota legislative session, and builds upon the first round of grant money that was made available earlier this year

The MDA says it expects to award $250,000 using a competitive review process, with a minimum award of $10,000 and a maximum award of $50,000.

There will be additional RFP in 2024, with details to come later.
