The most recent issue of the Organic Broadcaster from Marbleseed features an article by Forever Green Perennial Grains and Winter Annual Agronomist, Matt Leavitt, on the Environmental and Economic Clusters of Opportunity (ECCO) program.
Background for those less familiar with EECO: It is funded through the State of Minnesota's Clean Water Fund and administered by Forever Green. EECO is an innovative program that provides Minnesota farmers with environmental benefit payments, risk management, and technical assistance, in order to support farmers as they work to diversify their cropping systems with new continuous living cover crops under development by Forever Green.
The program is in its 3rd round and eligibility has now been expanded Statewide in Minnesota, including for growers in all Tribal Nations within the State. However, program funding is limited.
