Dates for 2024 Kernza field days have been announced by KernzaCAP.
Farmers and research partners throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin will be hosting numerous in-person field days throughout the summer. The field days will cover a range of topics related to Kernza, including breeding, production, processing, economics, ecosystem services and market development.
Check out the full list from KernzaCAP for details and registration info, but a brief rundown of the schedule can be seen below:
- June 13 - East Troy, WI: Stute Farm and Michael Fields Agricultural Insititue will host a field day on Weatherproofing your Farm that will feature Kernza from 1-4pm.
- June 27 - Roseau, MN: The Turf Grass Council will host a field day from 1-4pm at the Magnusson Research Farm.
- June 27 - Farmington, New Mexico: New Mexico State University Ag Science Center - Farmington will host a field day which will include Kernza from 9-1pm.
- July 7 - St. Peter, MN: Great River Greening will host a Kernza focused field day.
- July 9 — Madison, MN: A focus on organic cereal crops including Kernza, wheat, barley,
and oats with Artisan Grain Collaborative - July 10 - Arlington, WI: Dr. Valentin Picasso will lead a tour of the KernzaCAP experiments at the Arlington Research Station from 2:30-4:30pm for the ASA Board Meeting.
- July 12 — St. Peter, MN: Host Great River Greening with a focus on Continuous Living Cover cropping systems.
- July 18-19 — Salina, KS: A two-day event for Kernza product creators, hosted by Sustain-a-Grain.
- August 2: East Troy, WI: Hosted by Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, this event will highlight emerging crops Kernza, buckwheat, industrial hemp and more.
- August 6 - Jackson, WI: Glacierland RDC and Cedar Creek Farmers will host a Soil Health Field Day featuring Ross Bishop’s Kernza field from 5:30-7:30pm.
- August 6 - Cannon Falls, MN: Clean River Partners will host a Kernza focused field day at Bill Jokela’s farm from 3-5pm.
- August 15 - Westport, MN: Pope and Stearns County SWCD will host a field day featuring Kernza at the Rosholt Research Farm.
- August 22 - Castle Rock, MN: Kimber Contours and Forever Green will host a field day from 10am-1pm that will include Kernza along with Kimber Contours' Go-First Farm hazelnut planting. Topics such as land transitions will also be covered.
- Sept. 4 — Hastings, MN: A field day event from Forever Green, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Dakota County SWCD, which will look at perennials for water quality planted at the city-owned DWSMA land in Hastings (a combination of Kernza and alfalfa).

Supply chain partners are cleaning and processing Kernza, and food companies across the country are turning Kernza into tasty products for consumers, including pasta, beer, bread, and baked goods.
